Vancouver’s New Media and Digital sectors are rapidly growing. In October 2009, the Wireless Innovation Network BC (WIN BC) and New Media BC banded together to form the Digital Media and Wireless Association of BC (DigiBC).
Today at the Games, as part of the BC government 2010 business hosting program, five investor information sessions were organized by DigiBC. The sessions profiled B.C. companies and their innovative technologies, while exploring how digital technology is changing medicine, communities, entertainment, media, and other areas of people’s lives.
The event concluded with the announcement that DigiBC and Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency of Korea will be collaborating on economic development opportunities between digital media companies in B.C. and Gyeonggi Korea province.
I am pleased to hear that the impact of the 2010 Games is extending beyond the sporting events. It is good to see business leaders and government collaborating and capitalizing on this opportunity to help grow emerging industries globally.
